Redemptorist Youth Mission 2018 - Planning

Thank you to Fr Charles Randdall C.Ss.R for this report on the recent planning meeting for 'Redemptorist Youth Mission 2018'

Redemptorists of Europe Meet in Granada to Plan July 2018 Youth Mission

On 12 July this year, Redemptorists from all over Europe gathered in Granada, Spain, to plan the forthcoming Redemptorist Youth Mission which will be held in the city between Wednesday 25 and Sunday 29 July 2018.

European Redemptorists

Redemptorists from around Europe concelebrate Mass

at our Perpetual Help Shrine in the city.

Next year’s event will be the 11th European Youth Mission organised by the Congregation. It is hoped that groups from our Redemptorist parishes across Europe will attend for what is being billed as a “mini World Youth Day.”

Delegates to the 3-day planning meeting stayed at our Perpetual Help Shrine, located in the heart of Granada’s fascinating and historic city-centre. Clare Oliver from the Liverpool RYM Group, and Fr Charles Randall CSsR represented the London Province, joining the other eleven delegations from places as diverse as Lisbon and Lviv.

Not only did the delegations share what is happening in youth ministry in their own countries, but they also contributed to the planning of next year’s event, building on the phenomenal logistical effort already put in by the Madrid Province.

Based on figures for previous gatherings, over 600 young people are expected to attend the event in Granada next year to share prayer, participate in workshops, sight-see and no doubt have a lot of fun and laughs, celebrating being young people in the family of St Alphonsus. The event is aimed at those of sixth-form age and above, so this is an early shout-out to our parishes in Birmingham, Liverpool, and Clapham to watch this space for further details in the coming year
