Fr Raymond Mupandasekwa CSsR, the Regional Superior

Br Adam Mukabva and Alfred Zembe took their simple vows at Alphonsus House after a year of the noviciate experience under the care of Fr Joseph Musendami and Br David Nyamuronda. A mass which was attended by representatives of relatives, some parishioners from all Redemptorist parishes and the majority of Redemptorists resident in Zimbabwe was held at 10 AM on 29 of July 2017. Fr Tryivis Moyo preached and gave a sermon on the life in the Novitiate, the significance of the profession ceremony and the future.

Brs Adam Mukabva and Alfred Zembe will now join other students at St Alphonsus House under the wings of Br Benjamin Posvo, the Student master and his assistant Fr Gideon Sidinga. This new development means that there will twenty Redemptorist students in Zimbabwe – thirteen in philosophy (6 first years; 4 second years; 6 third years) and seven in theology (2 first year [Adam and Zembe]; 3 third year; 2 fourth year).

World Day of Prayer for Consecrated Life 2017...

The 2nd of February is the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, also known as Candlemas, when all the candles will be blessed for this coming year.

It is also a day of prayer throughout the world for those who live a consecrated life - and for those who will respond in the future.

Please pray today for Vocations to all forms of Consecrated Life

especially the Redemptorists!

We are in it together!

L to R: Br Chris, Fr Charles, Fr Richard, Fr Peter, Fr Charlie and Fr Ronnie CSsR - before the Papal Throne, St John Lateran

Cardinal Tobin CSsR said on the 31 Jan 2017,

"Consecrated life, like any committed life, faces particular challenges today, particularly in the West, where a famous sociologist ... used to talk about the “liquid society,” a society that is so fluid in its identity that you can say you’re something one day, and then change it the next, even the most profound characteristics of what it means to be human. I think as vowed people, people who have given ourselves to the Lord, to maintain that commitment within such fluidity is going to be a challenge. I think also that this sort of freedom that religious life should model isn’t always evident if we’re not truly free – free from striving for power, wealth or unlimited satisfaction. In a consumerist society, that’s going to be a challenge, to say no, living simply and living gratefully is the real secret to a happy life. So I think religious can model that for the rest of the Church. But if we’re not faithful to that, then we become like the salt that’s lost its flavor, and we don’t want to do that."

cardtobincssr

He also said at antoher time,

"Our Holy Father Francis has given the Church this special opportunity to pray for all those women and men in consecrated life who have given their lives in love to God.

This prayer may prompt each of us to ask,

'How is God calling me to give of myself this day, that I might know the deeper joy of service to God and others?'"

Redemptorist Studendate on Tour!...

studendate cssr on tour12

Over the seminary half term break the Redemptorist formation community, based in Clapham, took the opportunity to visit some of our historic Churches. We set off early to drive to Worcestershire to Blackmore Park and the Church of Our Lady and St Alphonsus. The Redemptorists were there for six years and in that short time had over 400 conversions! It must have been a truly blessed mission and entering the church it was immediately obvious that this was a Redemptorist house. The shrine of Our Lady, the Icon of Our Mother of Perpetual Succour and the chapel of St Alphonsus with its stained glass depicting his life made us feel at home. Fr Charles Corrigan C.Ss.R. said mass and in his homily reflected upon those Redemptorists whose ministry had changed the lives of so many people.

Novices receive the CSsR Habit...

The Noviciate taking place in Canada has two of our novices from London - Br Royston Price and Br Mike Taylor - they recently were clothed in the Redemptorist habit. We offer our congratulations to all the brothers who were clothed with the habit at this recent ceremony, and we promise our prayers for their future formation.

cssr novice ii

Br Royston wrote the following piece,

"On the afternoon of Friday 20th of May, the eight novices in the Redemptorist Novitiate Community in Toronto were clothed in the habit of St Alphonsus. The novices, from the Denver, Baltimore, Dublin and London provinces, have been formed in the spirit of the congregation for the previous ten months, and being presented with the habit is an important milestone on the road to becoming professed members of the Redemptorists.
