Handover of Students 13th September 2013
Short Reading James 1:2-4
My brothers, you will always have your trials but, when they come, try to treat them as a happy privilege; you understand that your faith is only put to the test to make you patient, but patience too is to have its practical results so that you will become fully-developed, complete, with nothing missing.
Short address: Fr Corrigan
Fr Richard Reid: I present Br Michael Taylor and Br Royston Price to the community. They have completed their time of postulancy and the appropriate authority has been sought for them to proceed to the life of formation as Students in the Congregation. I ask them to come forward and kneel as we ask our Holy Founder St Alphonsus’ prayers for them during this next stage in their vocation journey.
MT + RP come to front of oratory and kneel in front of altar

R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Let us pray.
O God, Who by the Blessed Alphonsus Maria, Thy Confessor and Bishop, inflamed with zeal for souls, has enriched Thy Church with a new progeny: we beseech Thee, that taught by his saving counsels, and strengthened by his example, we may happily come to Thee. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Fr Charles Corrigan: Our Constitutions tell us that:
“The members who aspire to the priesthood shall be trained with the object of forming them in the image of Christ the Eternal Priest. Let them learn to unite themselves with him, and endeavour to explore thoroughly the total mystery of Christ, by a scientific and systematic study of the sacred sciences and by a deeper knowledge of the human sciences. They will likewise share fully in community life, and participate in an appropriate way in the missionary apostolate.”
Will you live your student life in imitation of Jesus Christ, after the model of Saint Alphonsus, being formed Intellectually, Spiritually, Pastorally and Humanly in this formation community?
Brs M Taylor and R Price: With the help of God, I will
Fr Richard Reid: Our Constitutions tell us that:
“During the whole course of studies our students will be entrusted to the special care of a prefect, whose function it will be to train their minds for the apostolic life, and help them to relate their theological studies and spirituality in such a way as to give unity to their life.”
Fr Charles, I pass on care of these students to you, will you guide, form and accompany them in their vocation journey?
Fr Charles Corrigan: With the help of God, I will.
Brs M Taylor and R Price: Will you, the community help us and the whole formation community by your advice, prayers and example?
All: With the help of God, we will.
All return to seats, and Evening Prayer continues with the short responsary:
